In memory of popo

There is no better wake up call then death. Sure, death is just another part of life that occurs as naturally as flowers shed their petals. Sadly, the sting of death is not felt until it involves someone close to you.

The weather matched our moods; its as if the heavens was crying as well.In memory of my popo who went home to be with the Lord at 2:30 this afternoon. This post is dedicated to her...

My popo was the one who took care of me since i was young, since i was in my diapers and had no hair on my head. She was the one who taught me how to write in chinese and gave me my chinese name "bai li zhen". Eventhough, she didn't have a chance to study and pursue her dreams as she was arranged to be married at the age of 19. She was by far an expert in many fields in her own right and also a wonderful wife and mother of four.

She knew a variety of dishes and could could cook up a mouth-watering dish in just minutes. Besides that, she loved gardening and all sorts of plants and vegetables planted in her garden. Not only that, she could sew almost anything with her ancient sewing machine. Once when i was still a kid and dreamt of being a fashion designer, she even asked me to design my own clothes and she would sew them for me. What a wonderful grandmother i have. She was like Mary Poppins who had a special bag filled with all kinds of stuff that she would carry around wherever she went. Whenever we needed anything she always seemed to have it and magically pull it out of her bag. She would never fail to surprise us.

Whenever she would go somewhere, she would be sure to buy something back for us. She would always remember us and buy us stuff like earrings, clips, clothes... She taught me to be resourceful and not let anything go to waste. She was a tiger, that is what most people would say, she fought with all her strength until her last breath. It hasn't been easy for her the past few years as she suffered from diabetes, shingles and she even dislocated her shoulder a few years back. Nonetheless, she remained strong and persevered on to live the best she could. She taught me so much, how to have faith, determination, generosity... She loved and gave much but asked little in return.

Although now that she's gone, we know that she has gone to a better place to be with the Lord. Even when she was still with us, she would always say that God is good and great and i truely believe that she still held on to that even till she breathed her last breath. I pray that even now that she is resting in peace in paradise with the Lord.

Popo, you will be missed by us all.
